Balls only matter for races up to 2 miles (the Mottram corollary).

The guy does not have the moxy or balls to be competitive at all..good runner...but not competitive.
I like Ryan. But i gotta admit, after seeing the quote on the homepage, the OP has some serious precognition skills. props to the OP for mad foresight skills. still a jackass though

What the hell do you guys think balls means? Is it just front running, is it random surges, is it just chasing after something you know you'll never win ever? It's so inconsistent on letsrun what people are happy with and what they aren't.
I bet all the lovers of Michael Wardian on the other thread think he "had balls" for leading the Olympic Trials in 2008. Did Ritz have balls chasing Haile Geb in Great North? Make up your damn mind.
None of these are Balls! It take absolutely NO balls to run from the front at the beginning of the race. The BALLS Wanjiru had (has) was to not be broken but stay in the fight and compete AT THE END OF THE RACE...you know when there is a finish line right ahead???? Balls are needed to not give in but reach down and exhaust every ounce of energy and training and tactics in order to have a chance to grab the win. Ryan Hall, and I like him, would not have had the balls to stay in the RACE because he wouldnt have been racing. He would have been running HIS race (aka Time trialing/Tempo running). So, No Balls, No Podium.
Even if Ryan ran with the same effort he had in London, I don't think he could have won Chicago because he would be "hanging on" at the end rather than "pushing himself" like Wanjiru just did.
Kebede's and Wanjiru's fight at the finish took balls. Wanjiru's balls just happened to be bigger yesterday. Ryan may have lost his balls when he stopped running competitive races a couple years ago (By competitive races I mean shorter stuff that he can sharpen himself with.)
Is it appropiate to talk about having ovaries to my HS girls' team?
