Hall has mentioned he is a poor hot, humid weather runner, which is understandable coming from a guy who lives in Mammoth. The Philly race was low-60's and humid. He struggled in similar conditions at Beijing.
That might have been the explanation behind his performance. I give him props for not making excuses.

It was a bad race, but lots of people have bad races before a marathon. I don't think it means too much. I'd predict a 2:07 or 2:08, which is a middling performance (you don't PB every time).
The race was a fakeout to sammy and tse-ke to look like he's not in shape... why do you think he started at 4:40 and then "faded" back to 5:00 rather than just run an even pace?
He wrote his goal time on his hyperspeeds, but refused to mention it to anyone except those who will sign the shoe. Does anyone have connections with Hall Steps Foundation?
