It looks like the people at the Chicago Marathon released the list for elite development participants. There are some interesting names.

i saw only 6 men on the elist list and 11 women i am sure more names will be announced, maybe gharib, goumri, merga etc.
doug, we don't like how you always cry about the "poor" ethio's that you totally stalk, now you show that your reading comprehension sucks balls. the OP specified, elite DEVELOPMENT program- something tells me that gharib, merga, and goumri would be juuuuust a little bit better than the DEVELOPMENT program. please cease to post immediately. thank you.
Several men that have run in previous Olympic Trials are on that list. I was also shocked to see that Kelly Jaske is on that list. I thought that she was good enough to be in the real ELITE group.
kelly who? the elite group (see above posts) is for ppl like goumri. kelly jaske isn't in the same zip code as goumri. a female equiv to goumri, etc would be someone like a desi davila. most anyone who's run the trials and NOT named hall, meb, or abdi (or khalid) is prob not worthy of the actual elite field, sorry.
So which group should James Carney or Fasil Bizuneh or Justin Young fall into?
or Jason Hartmann or Patrick Rizzo.....
Where's the jerkoff that wants individual water bottles for the zillions on this list?
How many folks on there did not meet the entry requirements (<1:11, <2:31)
I see two names that I know personally who have not run that in the last 2 years.

Kelly beat Desiree last year at the US Half Champs. Actually, looking at US Champ results, the only time she's been beaten by a single Hanson runner was Dot at the 25K Champs this year. Yet Chicago lets Hanson marathon debutantes in every year as elite status.
I think those guidelines aren't set in stone. There are a lot of people who have run 1:11.xx on that list.
The Elite Development starndards are too lenient for the women. Why not just make them start in Corral A?

What a joke. Those standards are so loose that I wouldn't be surprised to see compression socks and fuel belts in the "Elite" coral. There are only about a dozen guys (out of 167) on that list that have even run under 2:25.
goumri= top ten @ world champs pretty sure desi has finished right around 10th @ worlds in the past few years. don't think miss jaske has. no slight towards jaske, i'm sure she's a great athlete- in this country, but not on the level of the "invite" athletes. if you've won a national championship, you have a little better claim (i.e., fasil, carney, etc) but in the US, we have so many champs that it kinda dilutes that claim to fame, as compared to other countries.
to truly settle the argument, we need to know what kind of appearance $ carney, fasil, etc. are getting. I'd be surprised if fasil was getting much beyond entry and airfare, and i consider him a friend but that's just the way things are, esp nowadays.
