Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to the 800 and fairly new to distance running in general. I started some serious training this summer for the 800 though and was curious what kind of shape you would suggest I am in. I would hop into an 800 meter race somewhere, but obviously there aren't many 800 races going on when everyone is training for the 8k! A couple of workouts I've put together in the last few weeks have been the following:
7x200 with 2:30 rest at 29 29 28 28 27 27 25
300/200/100 cut downs with splits of 45 29 13.3 43 28 12.8 42 28 12.0 all from standing start
4x400 with 3:30 rest in 60 61 61 58 (this workout was the longest ago, about 3 weeks)
I'm a low mileage runner who is more of a speed guy with a PR in the 400 of 50.9, and I've been averaging 10-25 miles per week.
