I'm trying to peak for May in the 800/1500m events. The main goal is a sub 2 800 and then an equivalent in the mile/1500.
I haven't done any sort of speed work since about 2008 in track. But 2009 I did some 70 mile weeks and trained for 8k during the xc season then 5k in the track season.
I follow a lot of Daniel's guidelines, simply because they work out for me and the biggest question is how I should handle this situation of breaking up my work.
This summer I got up to doing 80 mile weeks all at a solid pace (6:40's to 7 min), with 6 strides 3x a week, and am still doing consistently so.
Did a few tempos (interval style since all my work is done alone) but have discontinued doing them.
