The NCAA championship is NOT a team sport. Its an all-star game.
A true team championship would be a dual meet championship. You have to be super-elite to score any points for your team and hardly any one there has much of a team to support. The team that wins has about 7-8 great athletes... that is not a track and field team (and 2-3 of the people score half the teams points).
Who does Puskedra think he is? He just figures that since he runs at "Oregon" and they are racing at "Hayward Field," that he has to put on some kind of show. News Flash kid...your not Rupp and your not a superstar! I mean, he is a good runner, but he has no business trying to run with Chelanga. Just run your race Puskedra and you will slowly improve. Your still young kid.
And "your" not an English major (I hope).
"We play to WIN the game!"

It was a race that went poorly for him, a learning experience most of us on here have had and been able to get past, I imagine.
The NCAA Championships is a team sport - that was very poor racing tactics by Luke; hopefully he learns from it, but that does not help his team this weeekend!!!
In the context of the team race Oregon had just blown its hand in the JT; expected to get 12 points they got none. They took a real long shot with having P go with Sam and hoping to get second or, in a miracle of something suddenly breaking, first place.
As for the future, Ahmed is looking pretty good. He was the first freshman in 30th at NCAA XC and he was late getting started after a late, international track season followed by Ramadan in the early fall. This year Ramadan is several weeks earlier and he has one meet left -- WOrld Juniors. His races this year have been: good Big Ten placing, 30th NCAA XC, Won Canadian Juniors XC; 14-low indoors; 27th(?) World XC Juniors; won Big Ten 10,000, close 4th at the Regional Qualifying, 4th (almost 3rd) NCAA 10,000.
Top 10, or 5, or... NCAA XC next year?
