EVERY doctor is a QUACK if they are trying to treat an injury they don't know what the CAUSE is.
Some injuries are very hard to diagnose. Virtually all running injuries are caused by overuse with the majority originating from the hips. Some even originate in the neck and back and the pain is referred to the lower legs.
My feeling is that a great MASSAGE therapist is your best asset to keep you running uninjured and help when you do get an overuse injury.
you do know that there isn't a large difference in science education taught in different professional schools, right? Didn't think so.

Q: What do you call alternative medicine that has been proven to work?
A: Medicine
The big problem I have with homeopaths, naturopaths, chiros, and what not is that they don't understand science. To understand how the human body works, you have to understand science. To fix a car you have to understand how it works, the same principle applies. "personal experience", "anecdotes" etc. are simply ways of saying "I don't know what I am talking about, so I make stuff up and people believe me". Your saving grace is something called the placebo effect, which incidentally has been proven to be quite powerful. Essentially the only tool in your box of quackery is that you are really good at convincing people to believe in you.
Anyone who calls a chiro a quack has obviously never used one.

I have used one, and I say Quack quack quack. Complete waste of time and money.
Bootsie,
This post isn't about chiropractors. The author expressed his opinion about chiropractors, but that wasn't part of his solicited response. You have now wasted everyone's time by getting way too worked up over the author's opinion about chiropractors and, of course, not offering a single bit of insight into whether or not podiatrists are quacks. Thanks!
I second this!
Orthotics are the cure-all for podiatrists. But, they'll own prescribe these after conducting about $20,000 worth of tests.
I have used a couple podiatrists over the last 20 years and they were both helpful in figuring out the problems.
"the badness moves north, it comes to their real-estate"
Exactly why podiatry exists in the first place. Ortho never gave a sh&t about F&A until we started encroaching on "their territory".
