What is the deal with a road racer not getting any respect and a track racer getting all the props? Hypothetically if a guy was a 28:30 10k runner in college and he was just not that into track racing, and decided to turn to the roads, it seems that on a board like this he would get all sorts of crap for being a road whore despite that both pusuits pay money! Yet after a few years of learning the roads if he popped a 2:12 debut everyone would be saying he was the future of US marathoning. Just wondering what is up with the double standard? On a related note, if we had a 10 race grand prix cross country circuit with really good money, and a guy decided to focus on that would he be looked down upon as a cross country whore? My thoughts are that hard running is hard running no matter what the surface.
