OOps, didn't edit! Ryun vesus Liquori mile at MLK Games in May, 1971. Sorry, Jim!
Look at Mills! Look at Mills! OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH! If its that good on 120x120 black and white video, I can only imagine what it would be like live.
1968 Oly 1500 m final. Ryun a well-beaten 2nd.
Any of the early to mid 80's Bislett Mile races.....
Really wish I had been able to be in Mexico City for John Carlos, Peter Norman and Tommie Smith in 1968.
Tokyo in '64.
Mills race is a close second, but Schul and Dellinger in the 5000m is my choice. I'm still impressed with how gutsy Dellinger ran to get third. The coming out of retirement only made it even better.
Best distance performance by a group of Americans ever.

Northern European song about The Salute
"Mr.. John Carlos' by Nationalteaten (Swedish>English)
Say, do you remember still the day of the Olympics in Mexico
It was the podium ceremony and 200 meters
It whispered solemnly in lighter honor division
Mr. theatrical display took on the solemn mien
Starsprangled rose slowly into the sky in a drizzle of sentimentality
No eye was dry in the night between ecstasy
When two black fists raised to the sky
The scandal hit the bottom of the Olympic village
Societe swallows astonishment his whiskey sour
They have defiled starsprangled with black-power
All flapping American heart stood still
Our black boys have behaved very badly
Refr.
And Mr. John Carlos, you dug your own grave
For sport is above politics
In your chest beating yourself in for the first nail
You should have contented yourself with your big victory
And thinking about your future as a pleasant and successful negro
Then what happened with John Carlos?
Wondering what all of which belong to
It is a rough and sorgesam history
He was fired from the team and disappeared from Mexico
Then extinct was his sporting glory
But revenge did not end with it and it continues today
Everywhere he sought the job was where the cold shoulder
As a rebel he was stamped forever
Troublemakers to be held shortly
He has disgraced the sport
And damage to our business
Let family starve to death
So maybe he learns
Refr ..
I met John Carlos in Munich 72
He had a job without pay
in sports firm Puma
He lived in the interviews, which costs 100 bucks
He said a little ashamed "of course the family must live"
We talked a bit forced for a while when I suddenly caught sight of one thing
A label with a panther on his shirt
I said "Then you have contacts there, you fight for the black-power than today"
He sat silently for a moment and then replied quietly:
"The e no pledges, the E a puma."
I would love to see a few of my HS and college races from the mid-70s, in particular my HS PR of 4:15.2.
Since right now I can hardly even run that pace for a 100, it would be neat to see that at one time I really could.

We swopped everything - tall tales, punches, playing cards, early motor cumbustion prototypes, our wives . . . but especially the lead.
I know the results would shame your average Ethiopian shepherdess, sacre bleu, but they were different times then. (No, really).
He dropped the world record by 30 secs but then his brothers had him practising marathons at an early age, while I was carrying rather a large moustache. In fact King Gustav hung a medal on it.
Then this Serbian patriot appeared just as I was heading towards Antwerp. In every way you could possibly imagine.
