Running shoes dont have to be complicated just get the lightest and simplest shoe you can find. Go minimalist, nuff said
As far as the first statement, I disagree. It's not a scientific study, but I have experienced a huge volume of anecdotal evidence from customers that I have helped. They come in with a problem, we work to find an appropriate shoe and 3,6,9 etc. months later they come back for pair after pair since they no longer have problems.
I do agree with the second statement (to a degree). People give shoes both too much credit AND blame. The worst shoe isn't going to injure someone with good mechanics, and some people in our society are going to get injured no matter what shoe (or no-shoe) they try to run in.
