Are you the type that goes to a football, baseball or basketball game and listens to someone give you a commentary on a radio because you can't figure the sport? Put it on mute for Pete's sake. This was free coverage. Be grateful we had this coverage.

I hate tv people. How ignorant can you be, like for real? Do you try and not understand the sport beforehand?
I thought I saw him come in about 12-15 not too far behind Vail and Lowe. JK not too far back, and I Girma was with JK...but I could be wrong.
Looks like a BIG win for OSU.
I'd still rather have this than nothing at all. But yes, track and xc tv coverage has always been backwards. At cross country -- a team sport -- they focus on the individual race and ignore the team aspect.
At track -- an individual sport, really -- they focus on the team races and ignore events that don't affect that.
Nothing new here.
Paraphrased:
Derrick: "I'm dissapointed, we bombed"
chick: "You got third, that's not bad."
Derrick: " I was talking about the team."
WOW.
Horrible coverage, horrible reporters...just freaking horrible.... still no team scores...WTF!!!!
such terrible coverage...

Stupid blonde interviewing top 3 - dressed like it's 28 degrees out no less - "Eveyone was talking about Chalanga and Derrick. David McNeill comes out of nowhere and finishes 2nd. How did you do it?"
MY GOD! That is awful. When the hell will ANY network put together a team of announcers who genuinely know track and field and cross country.
if the blonde was larra overton, er, she ran cross country and track at indiana. the post-race reporters get like 35 seconds with each of these guys, and it's not as if she sits in a helicopter with real-time analysis of trends and team placement that she can immediately digest and form articulate questions for. what do you expect her to ask?
so we know OSU won, what about the other places? shit this coverage sucks ass
And she had to rip table tennis?
they have a commercial like every 3 seconds
My respect for Derrick went way up after that exchange.

That chick is an IDIOT.
QFT. Third place for Derrick as a disappointment? McNeill as some "susprise" getting second like he's some kind of scrub? Give me a break.
Chris Derrick should have just walked away from that interview. That chick had no clue what she was talking about. Get her off the course and get some random fan to do the interviews and commentary. They would do a much better job!
This coverage was better than nothing, but I'd prefer a producer who knew something about XC.
There was NO coverage of the team race during the race. Was that Liquori doing color? You'd hope that he could educate them. The individual race was over by 5k. Switch to the team.
If they couldn't have a second camera covering the pack, then at least they could have had a spotter to talk about the team race. OSU ran a brilliant race, but I have no clue how it happened. Did they move to the front from the beginning and hang, or did they slowly move up? What happened to Stanford? Did they go hard and fade, or were they as flat as Derrick looked at the end?
Frankly, we got better coverage of the Regionals without TV than of Nationals with TV.
WHAT THE HELL IS WITH ALL THESE COMMERCIALS!! This isn't coverage, this is bull
It was not larra overton, it is Cat something.
And anyone who follows this sport at all knew who McNeill was and that he did not "come from nowhere" to get 2nd. Anyone out there who follows distance running at the ncaa level knows mcneill was a contender.
this stupid opening shit again
WHAT AN UPSET, THE NUMBER 2 TEAM WON OMG
"What an upset we just had in the men's team race."
So, the #2 ranked team won, and that's a huge upset?
