Ralph Kings mile time was 4:06.7h in 1974. I'm not sure what meet it was....and again, I'm guessing that his 4:05.3h is the 4:06.7h converted to a 1600m

I call BS on nearly half of these times. Is anyone else with me? Looks like a lot of old men with fuzzy memories. Like when my Dad told me he ran 43 for the 440 when he was in high school.
Since you responded to my post: the 4:11 school record was good for second place in the NY state meet in '76. Same guy won the state meet in '77 in 4:12 as a senior. Ran his 3:48 1500 in the semi of the junior nats in Knoxville that year.

I believe you are referring to Brian Turner, Millard North HS (Omaha, Ne). He ran 4:10.8h as a senior in 2000...in a 1600 meter race. BUT, as a sophomore, ran 4:09.29 at Footlocker Nats in 1998

Nearby, Downtown L.A. I believe is 4:09 (Belmont HS) by Roman Gomez.
Roman Gomez did run 4:07 at Golden West in 1985. Some states don't count records run after the state meet.

It's a big high school but I dont think anyone has been within 10 seconds of that since the mid eighties.
My guess for the girls would be Debbie Brundage Eide in about 1972
you mean this..
John Rogers, 4:10.4h, Roseburg HS (Or), sr unsure of meet, 1976

Not a single Class or the Open has a time as fast as that.
King went at least that fast, in 1981.
Some fast times recently .... I'd like to know who ran that in 1976
??
4:10.8, Richie Bright, Wilson HS, Middletown, CT, State meet Open 1st, 1963
4:10.8, Jim Euell, Free Academy, Norwich, CT, State meet Open 1st, 1970
Hey jsully, I just came across all of your post. Your replies are similar to mine, 12 years later. You may have been listing CT marks next to 4:10.8....but I do have a 4:10.1h for Jim Euell, 4th at Golden West on 6-13-70. Maybe you do as well, unless my 4:10.1 is a typo.
4:57.34 🏃♂️
I went to HS in a one-room school house located in the sticks of the South. Lol.

yes 4:05.42 FAT... Back in the mid and late 70's (or so), I have learned, that FAT times were rounded to the nearest tenth (or I have seen the highest tenth). Gregorek ran 4:05.42, but numerous list have a 4:05.4. In this case, they rounded to the nearest tenth
