This assertion has been made for hundreds of years starting with Malthus in the 1700's. Since that time the real price of food and natural resources have fallen as the ability to produce and use them has improved. Also during that time the population has grown 10 times. There are fewer people starving now than ever before, despite the large population.
Regarding the movement of tectonic plates, is this really a problem? If it takes 2 million years, that would be 10 times longer than modern man has been walking the earth. I'm pretty sure people could adapt over that time period.
