please tell me where you read this nonsense. I mean I am no expert on ancient religions, but I have never seen any similarities between Osiris and Jesus. I would appreciate a citation so that I might learn for myself.

Are white and male the two qualifications
Ayn Rand, Moms Mabley, and Confuscius say no.
From "Osiris" on Wikipedia.
"David J. MacLeod of the Emmaus Bible College argues that the resurrection of Osiris differs from Jesus Christ, saying
"Perhaps the only pagan god for whom there is a resurrection is the Egyptian Osiris. Close examination of this story shows that it is very different from Christ's resurrection. Osiris did not rise; he ruled in the abode of the dead. As biblical scholar, Roland de Vaux, wrote, "What is meant of Osiris being 'raised to life?' Simply that, thanks to the ministrations of Isis, he is able to lead a life beyond the tomb which is an almost perfect replica of earthly existence. But he will never again come among the living and will reign only over the dead. This revived god is in reality a 'mummy' god."... No, the mummified Osiris was hardly an inspiration for the resurrected Christ...As Yamauchi observes, "Ordinary men aspired to identification with Osiris as one who had triumphed over death." But it is a mistake to equate the Egyptian view of the afterlife with the biblical doctrine of resurrection. To achieve immortality the Egyptian had to meet three conditions: First, his body had to be preserved by mummification. Second, nourishment was provided by the actual offering of daily bread and beer. Third, magical spells were interred with him. His body did not rise from the dead; rather elements of his personality-his Ba and Ka-continued to hover over his body."[26]"
Que? I hear that the grongo named LARRY FLYNT is quite the philosophizer.

There are absolutely no contemporary accounts of Jesus. Not his existence, not stories about his life. Nothing among the Romans. His story was invented well after his death and every single element of the story has a precedent in previous mythology, particularly Zoroaster.
If Jesus is just a story that was invented, it was invented by the Jews and was an outgrowth of some of their cultural history. Jesus was born from the house of David - his antecedents were Moses, Isiah, and Abraham, all of whom he spoke about and referenced throughout his life. He also made reference to Noah and Jonah and many other Jewish prophets. He spoke of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden.
Even if all of it is nothing but pure fiction, at least keep it consistent with the facts of the fiction. If you wish to call Jesus based on mythology, let's at least assign it to the proper mythology: Judaism.

I really dig that chick in the silk blouse in those Rosetta Stone commercials, Lesley Ann Machado.
"Who is the greatest philosopher of all time?"
The one you can relate to or understand for that moment in time (in the 'living') and yet question its validity because in the end, you will know infinite before you were born and after you take your last breathe...

What?
Obviously you have not done your research! How about the Roman Tacitus, Mara Bara Sereperion, The Jewish historian (no freind of Xianity) Josephus. These are a few contemporaries.
In other words, the greatest philosopher is whoever you want it to be, you can argue the points about knowledge or the existence of life until you're blue in the face but won't matter until after you expired.

Why would it matter when you're dead?

I have read a great deal of philsophy, and I think there have been some very important contributions from a lot of different individuals. But if I could put my finger on the most important of them, it would have to be Aristotle.
Aristotle is the reason we have science. Aristotle codified the rules of logic. Aristotle's Poetics are still taught in literature circles. If not for Aristotle, there would be no Shakespeare. Rediscovery of Aristotle ended the Dark Ages and gave us the Renaissance. Without Aristotle, there is no Renaissance. I can also say that Aristotle's Ethics stand the test of time and make more sense than anything Plato or Kant or Nietzsche ever came up with.
Aristotle did not have all the answers, but he asked the right questions. He got the ball rolling. Today, philosophy is simply a bull session about values. Science has taken over much of what belonged in the philosophical realm.
Plato is the worst philosopher of all time. His way leads to darkness. Plato is the reason we have monks wearing hairshirts and secretly sodomizing each other when they can't flagellate their flesh anymore. Plato is mysticism. He is world denying, and the result is a world denying way of life.
Out.
