Sounds good to me!!

Well said. I agree. Teach your kid that it is unacceptable to act like this by taking the situation away from them. Threaten to leave. If they continue, follow through on your threat. The next time, do it again, and again, until they put 2 and 2 together.A big problem with child rearing in this country is that people think that it is just supposed to happen. Teaching lessons is hard and inconvenient work. Yelling at a kid or making idle threats that you don't follow through with is easy to do but doesn't solve the problem at hand.Unfortunately, all you need to be a parent are eggs and sperm. Most people have that, even idiots who have no business having a child, much less the skill to raise one properly.

Are you f***ing kidding me? A little kid cries in a Wal-Mart and you take them outside and calm them down or put them in the car and come back later. Problem solved..I have a toddler and this happens often enough at that age that you simply move on. Wal-mart isn't the public library though.
If some old man touches any part of my 2 y.o. kid in anger I would throw him through a f***ing window.. Twice! And I'm no tough guy. A toddler doesn't have the ability to just walk away from a situation like that. A 61 year old man does and should know better than to touch other people's kids. I hope he does time and gets a chance to see how annoying prison is. Not much volume control there I'll bet.

I agree 100%. For instance, you are the perfect example of such a situation! (a person with no business raising a kid)
(hopefully, you don't actually have kids. If so, may god have mercy on them)
Fair enough. You might want to take into account the cognitive abilities of the child which change as the child gets older. Putting 2 and 2 together often has more to do with the child's developmental stage than the parent's ability to "follow through".
Showing a 2yo that you mean business, to them, often translates that they indeed have no power to control their situation, which is why they are throwing a tantrum in the first place. They have urges that they have little power to control to do something that they are told they cannot do. Redirecting them and giving them more appropriate choices often does diffuse the situation. They can then learn how to do this for themselves.
Your point about parent's being self-centered, lazy, and undisciplined is not lost on me though. It is easier to get pissed and punish than it is to redirect and teach.
Everyone siding with the old man are just trolls trying to get a rile out of actual parents who know better. Better off to ignore them.

Same to you. Your tone on these boards betrays a personality that would delight in abusing children.Sir Lance-alot wrote:

I agree with every thing you said except this:

Unless you mean: put them in there and stand 5 feet away for 2 minutes. Other than that, you NEVER leave a kid alone in a car.
a) he could get heat-stressed
b) someone could kidnap him
c) even if it is not hot out and there isn't a carjacker/kidnapper in sight.... a cop could easily bust you for child endagerment, and rightfully so.
You can't leave a kid in a car by himself.

Not even close. I delight in abusing ignorant adults on letsrun. Sorry if that happens to be you though.
(let me guess, if you have a kid, you will be protecting him from socialism and keeping him home from school on the day Obama gives his "stay in school and work hard" speech?! Nailed ya, huh? :-) ).

Your mom left you in the sun baked car too many times.

yup, she did, but don't be too hard on her. It was the only place she could keep me safe the evil socialists, so ya gotta ask yourself: didn't she do right by me? Wouldn't socialist ideas have done more harm to my brain than heat stroke? Yes indeed they would have, indeed they would have.
( in fact, one time after I had been brain washed by some bolsheviks from my neighborhood, I started quoting marx at the top of my lungs in a grocery store at the age of 4. And an old man slapped me hard, and know what my mom did? She thanked that great american, yes, she did!)
Shut up dad - guys like you are part of the reason why kids are so messed up these days. If your little bastard can't act civil, then the little bastard doesn't need to be in public.
Uncivilized little bastards on airplanes is a pet peeve of mine as well. Good god, airplanes are no fvcking better than riding Greyhound. For fvck's sake we'll be flying with god damned chickens soon, and everyone will be using garbage sacks as luggage.
blah blah blah redirect them and all that crap = that is great but most Mericuns are too fvcking stupid to bother with all that. Good god, this was Walmart that we are talking about ... Walmart in GEORGIA - does anyone need anymore help with this?
Americans have lost the ability to raise children. Go to Europe, go to Japan, get on an airplane or train - YOU DO NOT SEE CHILDREN BEHAVING THIS WAY!

Yeah, cause there is no chance people are siding with the old man because they agree with his actions.. More likely that people are just saying they agree with the old man to get a rise out of you. I guess it's not only the 2 year olds that think the world revolves around them.
*you need to be slapped*
Your denial won't protect you. Nor will your weak and moronic attempts to redirect. How many of the scars on your kids are a result of your short temper? You probably started out abusing dogs and cats. I pity you.

It's the mother's fault, if she can't control the kid then take it out of the environmet and the kid can throw the temper tantrum all it wants in a closed car or behind the door of their house.
THATS PARENTING...
People don't really care for obnoxious, crying shitheads in public. It's the most annoying thing there is. I understand the kid is just a kid, but that's why the parent is there for, to deal with THEIR kid. I should not have to be forced to watch and listen to screaming kids while doing my shopping.
If you can't control your child, then leave it at home.
THE PARENT IS AT FAULT HERE...
The old man should have slapped the mother a few times as well for not dealing with the kid.
The public should not have to pay for the actions (or lack of actions) of irresponsible parents.

ha ha you got a good laugh out of me on that one spock (abusing cats and dogs, nice)!
No, the only animals I abuse are fat elephants, as in republicans, like Rush Limbaugh.
And we shouldn't have to deal with your tantrums on letsun. So we should all be allowed to go to your house and immediately kick your ass. How about that, you piece of shit?
I don't care if the mom can't control her kid or her child was throwing a tantrum, the man was clearly in the wrong. Sure, I get annoyed by bratty kids or tantrums in the stores or on planes, but I wouldn't expect some angered stranger to slap them either.
He obviously was throwing one of his own since he couldn't control his reaction/temper and he's 61 years old!
Btw, I have two kids of my own and if someone came and slapped my kid, you bet I would throw a BIGGER tantrum than the old man... :)
Sorry all I heard was:
blah blah blah Bastard....blah blah blah... Bastard....blah blah greyhound... blah blah... chickencoop...
What the hell are you trying to say?
One thing people in this country love to do is rant and scapegoat. Thinking is just something nobody likes to do anymore. God bless America.
Control your brat and there will be no problems.
It boils down to ONE thing. Be a responsible parent and teach your kids to behave in public places. If they are too young or unable to behave, leave them at home. That's it.
If you're unable to do that then you're asking for an old man to dicipline your kid cause you are willing or unable to do your job.
No sympathy for that brat or the mother.
CONTROL YOUR BRAT AND YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM LIKE THIS....
next..
Yep, if YOU created the problem then YOU need to be responsible and eliminate it.
