Table sugar is sucrose = fructose molecule bonded to glucose molecule. When you eat sugar, it is digested into 50% fructose and 50% glucose. Now, HFCS is *not* fructose. It's 55% fructose, 45% glucose. Basically, HFCS is like pre-digested table sugar with a little extra fructose (say, sugar and a few apples). Not very different really. The bad things that are being attributed to HFCS could also be attributed to sugar, and probably other things. For example leptin resistance can result from a number of things including a high fat diet.
