I actually still have my high school singlet, which is 40 years old. I haven't worn it SINCE high school, though.
The oldest things I actually wear are T-shirts from races. You know, we get so many that you may put one in a drawer for ten years without wearing it, and then suddenly it moves up in the rotation. The downside, of course, is that so many of hem have the DATE of the race, so there's no way of disguising the fact that the shirt is from 1988.
1975 NYC Marathon T-shirt
I think I still have an Empire State Games singlet from 1979 or so. The extra 50-60 pounds that I've put on since then might make it kind of tight, though.
I have a road race t-shirt from 1990. It may not seem that far back, but I'm only 32, so it seems real old to me.
Hey, congratulations on that Nobel Prize for Literature
I have a 1989 Hood To Coast Relay shirt, and a Portland Marathon shirt from an unspecified year, probably near 89 as well. I was born in '84, got these from my parents.
I have a 1992 Kinney Nationals tee-shirt. I actually wore it to lift the other day.
What's worse than a Brit?
A Canadian.
What's worse than a Candian?
A British-Canadian!

Bugger off, you old tosser! I know exactly what I'm saying. Now, excuse me, it's after tea so me and the missus are going down to the pub to toss back some pints.
Nike flats from 1983, and Nike spikes from 1984.
1957 Red w/white stripes adidas spikes. All leather and permanent spikes. What a great shoe!
The sun dial used to time our events in HS and college.
Also the Mammoth tusk I got as a trophy for winning the cave to cave 2.897K.

Thank you Al.
I am wearing a 1976 AAU cross country championships t-shirt right now. Hurray for eBay.
I have a Rono era Wazzu singlet which I do not wear though I might for a special occasion. Also have a Vigil vintage (Dolfin) Adams State singlet that I have not worn. I am unsure that t-shirts count as 'kit' but I have some race shirts (50/50 from way back was so durable) from the '80s and early '90s (regionals and state meet) of which either I or my father were the original owners. Race shirt designs were seemingly so much more interesting and well-done back then, despite advanced screening technology by comparison they tend to look so amateurish and cheap now.
I just located my first distance coach from 1960. I found him on the internet because he is pretty famous. I gave him my old Gaelic American AC t shirt from back then.
You hit the nail on the head about t shirt design which was much more imaginative in the old days than today. Mine had a giant green shamrock on it, very nice indeed. Today, t shirts just turn us into walking billboards for big corporations. Shameful!
