Because you are Sell and you would probably try to punch me in the face.

Some thoughts on this:
The Brojos are not the only "internet journalists" that cannot write. This guy writes "done" twice in the interview when he means "down", also "weak" when he means "week" also misses a few words in there. Even if he doesn't have an editor to catch this stuff, don't people proof their own writing? I would be embarassed.
Also, Sell's comments about Ritz are funny. Ritz ran 80-100 a week during 3 years of HS almost year-round. Ritz is not a low-quantity guy. Just because he doesn't do three-month blocks at 150-160 doesn't mean he trains like a baby. I am not a fanboy, but I knew Ritz when he used to live in MI and saw him run often, I don't pay attention to how he trains now, but Sell seems proud of his 5-6 or 7 yrs (he doesn't seem to know) that he has been pushing his potential and well he should be, even if it didn't work for him at times (he says). But Ritz has been training near his MAX for about 11 yrs now. I always thought of Ritz as an other-worldly talent along the lines of Craig Virgin ... but someone who worked much harder than many to stay there from the age of 15 onwards.
Last, I was kind of out of the loop about how good Sell has been over time ... I forgot about the placing at World's and the 2:10, 2:10, 2:11 ... good for him that is awesome. Only for himself as a reward for all the work, I hope he can run long enough to get a 2:09, if that is something that would mean something to him.
Best of luck in Boston!
You have created in your own mind whatever act you think Sell is putting on. He works his ass off, he is a tough sob, and contrary to popular belief, he is very talented. That is his act, nothing more nothing less. If you want to call that "blue collar," that's your choice.
Most of us don't consider him blue collar but we do consider him to be a tough S.O.B. We also don't consider him a redneck. His coaches, sponsors, and family provide a disservice when they try to pull that off.
Wow, this statement made about as much sense as underwater table tennis.

Yeah. We'll all tell Sarah to stop promoting Brian's redneck image.
All you guys need to turn off the computer and participate more in whatever your real life is, rather than in this alternate soap-opera universe you've created on letsrun.

It makes perfect sense, he's calling you out. You totally pussed, too.
Wow, we made it to almost 50 posts without someone referring to Brian Sell as the 9th best marathoner in the world. This is progress.

Spot on comment.
He reminds me of an 80's teen idol like Corey Feldman or something that was hot for a while, then his act died real quick and everyone knows it but him.
Sell can take his act and shove it up his ass.
You're right, does he even run all the races himself? Probably uses a stunt double for most of it and just finishes looking tired.
Sell is a whiny baby. Remember when he threatened to retire to become a dentist if he didn't get his way? Yeah, I thought so. Brian has no idea what blue collar means. He's a punk.

165 miles at 6 minute pace is 16 and a half hours of work a week. Keep crying. It is far easier than pretty much any job that pays 6 figures.
Yes, because the time one is actually running is the only time we should consider that they are "working." Obviously there's absolutely nothing else an elite runner has to do each day.
Anyone delusional enough to believe that this is all it takes for elites to run at the level(s) they are doesn't deserve to lace 'em up. Ever.
Above all else, Sell is a great guy. It is too bad that someone with a grudge and spare time, would try to get others to believe any different.
He is an honest, hard-working, family man. He is the type of person that is the first to volunteer his help if a friend needs it. Say what you will about his running, but I can guarantee he is a better man than most of you clowns.
You are stupid. Extremely stupid.
If you actually knew Sell, you would know that he doesn't stroll around Rochester claiming to be a "Blue Collar" runner, their is no such thing. Rather, he is a hard working American who was raised on the dairy Bitch!
The Hansons certainly gave him great tools to achive what he has, but in reality, Kevin and Keith can't run the miles for him. Yes, he has a nice set up, he will tell you how fortunate he is to have been able to provide for his family through his running. Most important, he will tell you the reality of how it can all be taken away with one little injury.
A pampered athlete? Hell no! Weather it be the Home Depot, or Hansons, Brian has always worked 25-40 hours a week during is tenure to PAY BILLS (yes it's hard to believe that the electric or gas bills don't magically disappear when you are an elite runner).
When was the last time that Hall or Ritz clocked in and had a customer bitch about the color of a shoe? I'm not complaining about them either, I'm glad that they don't have to work, I wish that our sport allowed for more runners to have this luxury. But "pampered athlete" is definitely the wrong title for Sell or any of his teammates.
Does he coplain about money? Who the hell don't! He is in the top 3-10% of all American elite distance runners, given the distance of course. Do me a favor, long on to espn.com tonight and look to see what the last place golfer gets after todays PGA tournament, it's probably more than Sell made during his Olympic year. The funny thing is that half of you probably didn't even realize that there was a PGA event on national TV today.
Yep. I have never heard or read of Sell describing himself as "blue collar." What Sell is is very smart and articulate. Folks also describe Peter Gilmore as "blue collar," which is even stranger, given his educational background.
You people remain far too literal on this. It's a mindset, an approach, even a way of life. It's not a superficial appearance though it can have manifestations in appearance (Gilmore's singlet, for example).

No, I surely don't remember that. What I *do* remember is Brian saying in '07 that if he didn't make the Olympic Team, he would probably give up professional running and get on w/ his life by going to dental school.
I don't see "threatened" or "get his way" anywhere in that. No rational person would.

You can also buy a 2200 sq ft 4 br 2 ba. ranch with 2 car garage for 60k!!!
Of course he may live in a 3 million dollar mansion within 10 miles.
I was going to look up where he lived on the Auditors site but the SORRY state of Wichigan charges for the service that every other state provides free of charge. After all, they are public records!!!
Any area realtor that has a business account with the auditors site could look up that info in no time (if the house was deeded to Brian Sell)and we would know exactly how much Sell paid for his house. (Not that that should really matter to anyone.)
Wait a minute, this sounds all too familiar, are you the guy who got put in jail for doing the same thing to Shawn Johnson?
Sell! Look outside! There is some guy sitting in a rusted out Pontiac with a bunch of duct tape and rope in the trunk!
