She (not sure who "she" is in this case, but it doesn't matter) chose Oregon because there is no state sales tax. Also, Oregon has the second most strip clubs per capita in the U.S. (2.6 per 100,000 residents; West Virginia leads at 2.9 per 100,000 residents)

"She" has not ran in college yet. More than 50 percent of LetsRun posters have ran in college.
-
Thanks! I don't really look at the main page much. Plus, I don't follow running all that much, either.
-
Thanks! I see that now. But, the thread titles looked boring as f**k, so I was not inclined to open them.

There is so much hate because of jealousy of all the great athletes at Oregon and how well Oregon does in the sport. These idiots hate Jordan Hasay, hate Nicole Blood, hate Alex Kosinski, hate Galen Rupp, hate Shadrack Kiptoo-Biwott, hate Andrew Wheating, hate A.J. Acosta, hate Pre...with that kind of company, I'd say you are doing pretty damn good to be hated by LetsRun posters.
-
"She has already done more than 99.99999999999% of Letsrun users."
damn, i feel left out of the fun. -
The hatred comes from how Nike manipulates the system and then acts like they deserve the same amount of praise as those that don't. Blood Spinning, Thyroid medication for all, inhalers for everything, cheating to get the Oly Trials in Eugene, cheating to get Adam Goucher in the 10k, cheating to get Acosta in the finals, manipulating the womens 800 to guarantee that Teter went to Beijing. The list is endless when it comes to a different set of rules for Nike than anyone else. Nike is very unpopular amongst many and Oregon is considered Nike U.
-
I am not going to lie. I love Oregon. I am not from there but I think it is awesome that they get these athletes. I also think it is great that Nike supports them. I am a fan of both and I guess that I am in the minority of the letsrun community.
-
You're not in the minority, but the Oregon haters are so vocal that you'd think there are a lot of them.
-
"Why is there so much Oregon hate?"
Two words: Galen Rupp. Is this thread really necessary? -

Well, I went to college and grad school, earned advanced degrees., and have run faster than 'She'. That said, She does have more hair and is a lot better looking.
re: Oregon, that's actually a good question. The Rupp-Salazar-Nike triangle has tainted Oregon's image. Lanana? Great recruiter and excellent college coach but it's also easy to root against his teams. -

I was on the fence about Oregon/Nike until the president of USATF got all championship events for the next 4 years at Eugene and then left for a job at Nike moments later... -
I think a lot of people on LetsRun don't HATE Oregon, but those that are the most angry are the most likely to post. I do think that Hassay has higher academic achievements than Oregon is known for, but she chose it because she thinks it will be the best place for her to be during the next few years.
However, it is not very entertaining in a competitive sense if every awesome runner goes to one school. Then the team competitions become mundane if one team will always dominate. Then again, that is what makes it so cool when an underdog rises up. I don't hate Oregon, but I do know that Nike has more of a presence at that university than they should.
