I was thinking about who would be possibly able to pull this off, and the best name I could think of in D-1 is Wheating. 800 obviously, in the 1500 he'd struggle with Heath, etc. but would have a chance. And my guess is if Oregon held their studs out of the 5K he'd have a chance in that too.
It would be a very, very long shot but I don't see anyone else in a major D-1 having an even remote chance. I don't know enough about the rest of the Big East to speak knowledgeably about Bumbalough's chances but he's the only other name that jumped to mind. Fernandez would get lit up in the 800. Nobody in the Pac-10 besides Wheating has a chance at the 800. Too much parity in the Big 10. No names really jump out at me from the SEC or ACC.
