I know that this has nothing to do with running. Please forgive me. A friend is getting married but not being Morman I cannot attend. Why?

I agree with you..why..??..and is he really a freind..??
you have to be a member of the church to go into the temple and be worthy to go in (thats not all you have to do to go in the temple you have other stuff you need to do)
I have no idea. But this is a good example of how Mormonism is really a cult of its own as opposed to a branch of the Christian faith. I'm paraphrasing (perhaps badly), but Jesus said "Everyone is welcome in my house." So if Mormonism is a Christian religion, why isn't everyone welcome?
Most LDS folks I know personally are very friendly and good people, but you've just got to question their faith, and what it claims to be.
I think most will agree that Mormons are retarded. When I say retarded I mean Corky from "Life Goes On" and "I sort Glass" commercials retarded.

I worked with a guy many years ago who had a Mormon brother. His brother got married but he could not be at the wedding ceremony because it was in the temple and he was not mormon. I could never imagine not having my brothers there.
Any church that does not welcome members of all faiths to worship God is not really a church, but an exclusive club.
What goes on? I'll tell ya when I marry Laura and Jackie Zeigle. Yeah, that's right, both of them.
:)
hate to burst your bubble....they're not mormon

thats only at the temple everyone can come to any of the church events except at the temple
Oh just the Temple, I'm sorry I thought maybe the Mormons were an exclusive club or something. So I would be able to attend the Wedding of a family member or loved one if they were getting married in the Mormon church?
DID YOU SAY MORMONS OR MUSLIMS?????
I say throw both of them in a pit a let em burn!!!!!!!!!
the marraige cerimony thing is probly just another Mormon restriction/rule that comprises their faith. Although Mormonism looks good on the outside, once you get into it, it's restrictive, captivating (in bad way) and ultimately a cult. ONce you're in, it's very hard to get out of. And, despite what they say or how they call it the "church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints...", mormonism is not a part or "sect" of Christianity. They just decieve people and try to use the bible as part of their teachings. None the less, it's just a cult.
As for me I'm a Christian, a real one at that. True christianity does not have restrictions or laws or forced on things; rather we as believers try to follow the teachings of the Bible. We know we're not perfect, but we try our best to live as blameless, loving, and honest before God and our fellow man. Don't be decieved by mormonism; it's just empty lives. I'm not trying to preach here (or wasn't...), but I hope I can steer people clear of this cult.

yes
truly amazing is how ingnorant people can be. these statements lack evidence, depth, and an understanding of what your religion even stands for. you try to place an argument against a religion's way of performing what is considered a holy ordinance and then do not even address the subject, but merely move on to your perception of its "cult" like standing. you then provide youre own conclusions about how true christianity does not require one to follow laws, although you then go on to say you follow the teachings of the Bible, thus contradicting youre own beliefs. and then, to top it all off, you take responsibilty away from your own argument by saying "i wasnt trying to preach..etc" but then try to smooth it back in by saying that hopefully what you wrote will bring people away from the "cult", as if youre statements will be for everyone's good. next time, when you try to put an argument against a religion, you may want to go and find out from the source itself what they believe. you wouldnt ask one who believes in confucian philosphy to explain islam. it does not make sense. heres a site i found while doing a study on this particular religious sect. www.lds.org. Its an authorized source from the church itself on their own doctrine. that may help you find the answer to your marriage question.
I don't think Mormon marraige ceremonies are that weird.
The Mormon temple is extremely sacred area for the members, and they have to work hard to gain the worthiness to even enter the temple. Not all Mormons are allowed to enter the temple, you have to undergo a series of interviews, etc. to gain entrance.
The idea is that the temple is for the truly worthy- which makes the ceremonies that are performed extremely sacred.
I know very little about what goes on inside the temple, but I know that when Mormons are wed, they are wed not "till death do they part", but they are married for all time and the afterlife, as well.
Truth be told, religions in general are pretty unusual for those that are not involved. I mean, some Christians believe they know who is going to heaven and who is going to hell, Jews continue sacred observences such as kosher laws, and African tribes perform ritual circuscision as a rite of passage. To me, all of these are UNUSUAL, but I don't think they are stupid or activities of a "cult". It seems like whenever a group of people that agree to an intense religious devotion they are called a "cult".
Sure, people can have different ideas about religions, but to call a religion "stupid" or to call a religious group a "cult" because they sometimes separate themselves from society as a group is simplistic and unfair.
Different strokes for different folks.
Why are all mormons VERY VERY white?
Hasn't anyone watched Southpark?
Its the only true religion! Dum Dum Dum De Dum Dum Dum.

Well, let's see what we've learned from the episode:
The Momon faith is built on contradictory scriptures coming from the hand of the same scribe (Joseph Smith)
The gold tablets remain hidden.
There are people willing to follow this faith and these scriptures, and that should be respected, even if they're both "dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb."
Trey was pretty straghtforward with this ep, showing the early days of Mormonism and the doubt surrounding it.
Interesting that the hat depicted is a top hat, used by magicians the world over.
I don't why Mormons are the only religion based on contradictory scriptures.
The "love thy neighbor" message of Christ is a little different than the meticulos detail of what you are allowed to do to people if they sin against you in Leviticus and Deuteronomy. How can you forgive someone "seven times seventy times" and also live "eye for an eye"?
Let's face it, times change, scriptures change.
By the way, I think the South Park creators actually really like Mormons, they had a Mormon protagonist in that movie "Orgazmo". As a matter of fact, Mormons are a group they don't seem to diss that badly.
That episode about the Catholic leaders trying to keep the ability to molest little kids was a little extreme, I thought! I guess those boys have to stay controversial.
