Overall I enjoyed the movie, there were some things that could have been better. My biggest problem was the villian seemed pretty lame.
There do seem to be people complaining about not using the "Bond formula", but in the two films starring Craig, Bond just became a 00 agent, so its possible that the filmakers are trying to depict this. Plus the last couple Brosnan films stuck to the formula and they were increadibly over the top.
I personally like Casino Royale better but this was still a pretty enjoyable Bond flick.

My dorm floor too. We even put a divider down the middle on the TV and played teams - the two guys on the left were one team and the two guys on the right were another team. The divider prevented you from watching the other screens. We had rankings posted where you could challenge the guys above you in the rankings and move up. What a royal waste of time, but very fun.

I know exactly what you are talking about. First semester was goldeneye multiplayer, second semester was tony hawk. Goldeneye is one of the best games ever, and I would say most of my dorm nearly failed too.

same here, except in middle school.
Goldeneye coupled with Mario Kart 64 was the magic in my college dorm
it was freshman or sophomore year of high school for me and yes it was completely consumed by goldeneye. and hell yea to the goldeneye mario kart duo. nonstop fun with those two games. goldeneye was probably easily the best i was at any game ever. good times.
and quantum of solace was good, but not as good as casino royale. certainly still better than most bond movies though.

mario kart double dash nearly did me in my senior year of college.
funny thing is the original mario kart did me in during 5th grade.
the worst part is i played Wii MK at Best Buy the other day for 2 hrs. little kids kept coming up like they wanted to play. i just ignored them.
i am 26 years old.
Gunfire and a high speed car chase introduced us to the opening of the film and set the pace that would be kept up throughout the entire work. The speed of some scenes, such as the opening, made you wish you had a barf bag as if it were a rollercoaster ride.
Bonds movies are notorious for thrilling action and unbelievable death defying stunts performed by Mr. 007. The plot of this film fell right into the mode of all Bonds films. The film takes off from where the last one ended, Bonds is driven by revenge to kill the people who took the life of his love, Vesper. Intermingled with Bonds search for revenge is the subplot of villain Dominic Greene, a pseudo-environmentalist who desires to take over Bolivia and all its natural resources, specifically water. Quantum of Solace did not disappoint when it comes to classic Bonds action, in fact it reached above and beyond the limits of believability and arrived at points of ridiculousness, which nearly made you laugh that Bonds survived certain situations. For instance, the perfectly executed escape from a burning airplane via jumping into a sink hole and timely pull the parachute a couple feet from hitting the ground, made me literally laugh. Scenes like this were certainly entertaining, but when it comes down to determining whether or not it is art, it can be sufficed that it is not art.
The director does attempt to convey a message or moral meaning towards the end of the film, but it gets lost in all the fiery explosions and intense chase scenes. Director Mark Forster was driving at the moral dilemma Bonds must confront internally: motivated by revenge for the killing of his one true love, Bonds must decide where his values remain as a secret agent.
This message only becomes most apparent in the last scene of the film. Everything previous to the final scene seems to almost sway in a different direction featuring copious amounts of murder and action. A major turn-off for the film was the fast paced cuts in each action scene. During the gunfire car chase opening scene there was so many cuts from an image of a gun, then suddenly a car, then Bonds, then the villains, and then back to the road, it left me feeling kind of confused as to what was going on and things were literally blurry on screen because of the intense speed of the scene. Perhaps this is what the goal of the scene was, but it made me feel like I was stupid and ignorant to what exactly was happening. The overall cinematography I felt was much to fast paced and used to many cuts.
One scene however did please my love for art expressed in film, that was the scene in the opera house. Rather than a typical fast-paced, gunfire sound laden scene, we were given a scene that featured opera music as clips of Bond’s struggle to escape were thrown in with flashes to the scene on the opera stage of a tragic climax situation. This scene to me was the only scene that displayed true art form. However, taking that into consideration, the scene seems out of place in the rest of this explosive thriller. As I looked around the theater people seemed to be a bit confused during this scene because it was not the typical Bonds style.
Speaking of Bonds style, I fear I must admit distaste for such sort of films. The audience however at this show seemed to have a different mind set than me, in the sense they could accept the pace and over-the-top action. It is a genre of film that does not appeal to me because of its conformed structure and unbelievable action scenes. For rating this film I would give it one out of five Bond’s martinis. I like a film that has some substance and creativity and this film to me lacked both of these key elements.
Overall I was disappointed, but the bar had been set very high by Casino Royale. Also, the post above is the best explination I've seen yet.
me o my: NOT GOOD
I don't think this is a very good review. If you're looking for art with a capital 'A', you shouldn't be looking for it in a Bond film anyway. Bond is medium brow entertainment that, when done well, is rewarding for what it is. I've never walked out of a Bond movie thinking 'wow, that will win Best Picture!'
Quantum of Solace wasn't great, but it was better than average for a Bond film. I can think of many more Bond films that were much worse.
I will agree that the plot was not good enough, some of the action was too fast-paced and choppy, and the villain was kind of lame. There was nothing eccentric about this villain - no bleeding eye, like in Casino Royale.
Great movie. If you read the Bond books, you'll know that Craig is the best Bond and these last two movies are the best Bond.
No doubt, no question.
Man with the Golden Gun! Yes, I almost flunked out of high school with N64's Goldeneye

I knew I wasn’t the only one out there.
I played a good bit of Goldeneye my senior year of high school and I was a decent player. But when I went to college my cross country team ONLY played with the “License to Kill” mode, which was one shot, one kill. I got my ass handed to me by my teammates for weeks. When I came home during Thanksgiving break after cross season I was light-years ahead of my high school friends due to the rigorous Goldeneye training I had received on campus. We played for nearly a week straight during break and I easily went undefeated.

fag
good movie....fell short of casino royale...not as smart, but overall, entertaining. just like all the bourne movies or the italian job...if you like car chases, gun and fist fights, hot women, stuff getting blown up, overall death, destruction and mayhem, you'll enjoy this movie
it was a good movie maybe not exactly the class of a expected bond movie but pretty exciting and entertaining. it sets you up for another movie that has potential to really open up a awesome storyline with this organization. i saw it at midnight and it was well worth the time and if i wasnt broke i would see it again
Bond didn't have sex with the girl at the end!
Stupid movie. It had a lot of dead spots with inane dialog. Didn't care for any character at all, and didn't care what happened. The "high" points, if you call it that, were when M was on the screen.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
