Night sweats have to be up there on the list. Nothing quite like waking up entirely drenched. Girlfriends don't appreciate it either.
Can't say I was overrained, but we were training hard. Sophomore year in HS XC, I went to the bathroom and urinated pure blood.
It may have been blood and urine mixed, but it sure as hell looked like thick red blood, straight out of the vein. It filled up the whole urinal too. I felt fine, but went to my captain and told him, "In case I pass out or die, this is what happened ... I'm going to call my mom now."
Coach found out, told me to go directly to the doctor. Doctor says, "No running for a week." I bitched and bitched. Went to different doctor, he says "if you pee normally, try running again and keep an eye on it."
Ended up only missing one PM workout, and never having that happen again.
The late George Sheehan once said, "You believe in
the existence of a stable universe until you pee blood."
I've heard of that happening to runners. Usually it's
just an isolated incident, but doctors will often put
you through all kinds of tests, etc.
By the way, beware of fresh beets. I once had some and
then the next day thought I was hemorrhaging out of
both orifices. Scary shit!
Caught a flu right before getting overtrained, and it didn't quite go completely away for about a year. I got like 75-80% better, to the point I could train again, but always felt like I was coming down with something or slightly sick. Didn't have much pop in my stride either. Finally it eventually went away, but that was 2 seasons of shitty running later.
Has anyone ever had blood come out while taking a crap? This has happened to me several times. I've never really worried about it too much, but was wondering if others have had similar experiences.
I peed blood once, which is disconcerting to say the least, but shitting blood is quite another thing. I went through an overtraining period once last year where I went all out one day and came home and had bloody diahrrea about four times that night. It's pretty shocking to turn around after taking a crap and seeing something like that. I told myself if it happened once more that night, I would go to the emergency room, but it didn't and the next day I was fine.
My heart stopped once.
I missed almost an entire year with overtraining syndrome, I raced several times when i was ill or getting ill and i got myself into areal state, crapping blood after the races, urinating blood, then had a bout a year of constant sore throats, depression, bad fatigue, like walking to the bus! Used to fall asleep at work and could only sleep for 4/5 hours each night, passing opaque white protein filled piss and quads that felt like they had been run over by a truck after climbing the stairs. The muscle soreness never wenta way for a year, some Japanese guy sorted me out with a change of diet, some supplements and some accupressure, rarely been ill since.
I'm not being sarcastic at all, so don't take this the wrong way.
Blood in your feces could be the result of hemroids. Many people have them and don't realize it. They are certainly not career ending or life-threatening, but they will certainly scare the crap out of you when you see more red in the toilet than you do brown.
Non stop soreness in my legs and tired all the time. Also hard to sleep even though i was tired.
It's actually usually not too much blood--to put it bluntly--I only usually notice when I wipe my ass. It usually happens about 2 or 3 times in a two week period, and then nothing will happen for another three or four months. I never really have any pain associated with it, but I kept track of it for a while and noticed it usually occurs a couple of days after hard intervals (never a race??)
Anyway, it hasn't happened for about 6 months, and I don't associate it with overtraining. I was actually just wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar, and if there was anything to be worried about.
withdrawal symptoms, not nice to be addicted to excercise.
fortunately now I know that it is not necessarily a part of a successful training program
Yep, it sounds like hemroids. Especially since it's when you "clean up" down there. I've experienced the exact same thing. My doctor asked if I had ever forced myself to go when I really didn't have to and, as many runners will tell you the same, I have done that. Especially before practices or races. If I know I'm going to be running hard, I want to make sure my intestines are as clean as possible before hand, so I'll fight like hell to make sure that that happens. The result: A hemroid or two. I would venture to guess that it's not that unusual to find in runners, especially those who like to take craps before they run.
are you sure that's not from wiping your ass too many times/too long? if i take a messy dump and have chepa toilet paper I usually end up with a chaffed ass (and sometimes a little blood)
haha, yep, I've had it happen too, Dennis. And in much the way you described also, it'll happen for a couple weeks, then nothing for months. And there's a difference between rubbing too hard with cheap toilet paper and having a tiny bit of very light blood on there....to actually be bleeding and having very dark spots of blood on there.
Before reading this thread, I never associated it with overtraining...I figured it was just because i was constipated or something, and because of that it tore some blood vessels down there when I was pushing it out. I got kind of scared for a while, because I wasn't sure how it was going to stop since I obviously went everyday before I ran...but eventually it did.
Pneumonia
Torn IT band.
Limp dick
You are all a bunch of pussies. There is no such thing as overtraining. Who taught you that? The PENGUIN??? Or was GalloGAY??
Stop complaining and run more. Everyone can handle as much training as they have the balls and time to undertake.
