First off, it is a high school meet, therefore, it is sanctioned by NFHS, not USATF. This is much like a collegiate meet is sanctioned by the NCAA, not the USATF.
Second, ALL high school meets have strict uniform rules. ALL STATES DO, as the NFHS has strict rules on uniforms. Yes, I agree they are ridiculous, but they are the rules. Some states do a better job of enforcing them than others, but they are there. (Some states are more pricks about it than others.)
Third, this isn't new. In the late 90s, a relay team in Iowa was disqualified for having different colored sports-bras. A team in New Mexico had to purchase new uniforms because the singlet couldn't be tucked in. There are about a million stories on this.
Please don't say it has anything to do with the Mormon culture or Utah in general. Please don't say it is a USATF rule (whatever idiot downloaded the USATF rulebook is an idiot). Also, the official may be USATF certified, but he is probably also NFHS certified because that is the capacity he/she was working in...
