Isn't that kinda shitty? I mean, I always thought official USA gear was more valuable than gold for an athlete, but now I find all I have to do is buy it online.

You have a warped point of view. It's only clothing.
I would NEVER NEVER wear that without earning it.
Only in sizes L up through XXXXXL (yeah that's right, five exes). Methinks few of the wearers will be mistaken for legitimate runners, at least distance runners, if that makes you feel any better.
Most of these will be worn by republican dullards with enormous beer guts mowing their lawns in the midwest, deep south, and Faten Island.

How would it be different than wearing a team USA basketball jersey or hockey jersey? Not saying you'd wear those either, but a lot of people certainly do. The USATF would be stupid for NOT merchandising team gear to help generate a bit of revenue.
because I dont play basketball or hockey so its different. If I was a bball player or hockey player with the aspirations of one day earning that jersey than i wouldnt wear it until i earned it. As a runner, I would wear a USA basketball jersey, but I dont think any non runners will rly want to buy a track jersey.
its 2004 stuff and its 65 dollars for a singlet

So, you think the only people wearing USA basketball and hockey jerseys are non-basketball and hockey players? That makes no sense.

You really think your aspirations of one day "earning" the jersey are at all realistic? You'd be safe in buying and wearing one, you're in no danger of "earning" one. Ever.
What if someone offered to trade you one for your high school, college, or replica pro shoe-brand singlet?
And I am speaking from the perspective of someone who wants to earn that jersey, not buy it. It wouldn't be the same. Now if I thought the chances of me earning it were completely unrealistic, then I wouldn't necessarily say "I would never buy that."

if it was a pro runner's? then i would trade it, ask him to sign it and suddenly have a cool piece of memorabilia.

They're not merchandising it. They're selling excess stock.
Wanting to earn the jersey and expecting to earn it are two separate concepts. Wanting to earn it helps for someone who can expect to earn it, but not vice versa.

And if it wasn't?
whatever. I dont want to buy the jersey because I want to and am hoping to earn it. You can buy it if you'd like.
Well thanks for sharing!
