two words: Doug Speck
One name: Doug Speck
Mt. Sac history and past results are the last thing he cares about.

I won a medal there in 1995! One of the highlights of my high school athletic career.
what I am MORE interested in, is where did these prep stars from the beginning of the century, end up? Besides Ryan Hall, what happened to these prominent prep names from 2000-2001?
Young-Sung-Teal
Amber Trotter
Eric Maldonado
Anita Siraki
Amber Trotter
shouldn't they be stars on the national scene like Hall is now?
So that's the best you guys can come up with? A question is asked & half of you fight with each other.
Young-Sung-Teal - Married at 17 in the Moonie church and no longer run.
Amber Trotter - Eating disorders and no college.
Eric Maldonado - Who?
Anita Siraki - About three years ago she was enrolled at Stanford and was more interested in online posting of topless and racy pictures of herself. Pics were not bad, might I say.
Amber Trotter - Is there any echo in here?

that is sad that these national class level X-C runners from 6-8 years ago never really panned out. (the names are from the article on the thread)

not entirely true regarding YSL. He was married at 18, and ran for a bit while attending Chabot College. He ran a road 5k (Jamba Juice 5k?) in what would have been his frosh year of college and ran 14:30's. He works at Orchard Supply Hardware in San Leandro now. He runs every now and then.
Something interesting though: They all had something to do with the Bay Area, well, all except Maldanado.
Leal: Bay Area runner
Trotter: Same as Leal
Siraki: Bay Area college runner
something in the water up there?
Maldonado ran for Don Lugo and won the XC Division I title in CA as a junior against Mike Poe, Lluke Llamas, and a slew of other studs when Llamas and Poe slipped and fell on the slippery Fresno course back in 2001. Since he ran for Lugo he raced all the time and his track times never compared with his 1440s time at MTSAC XC Course. He broke 420 and 920 for 2 miles and he contributed to the belief that the MTSAC course had gone soft because he never made it to state in track, but this was untrue because in 2001 the course was not repaved and the valley loops were not swept and all the stuff they do now He went to Norte Dame De Namur (NDNU) up north, so he shares the Bay area connection, but ran terrible every year with 28 minute 8ks and such. The coach did not know what he was doing and has since been fired. Maldonado talked of transfering but NDNU was one of the only schools he could get into because his grades were awful. As far as I know he graduated and is back in Southern California, he was a great XC guy.
Trotter got over her eating disorders. She also went to college . . . just not to run. Nothing wrong with that, though it certainly would've been nice to see her full potential as an athlete.
Mike Poe is a more interesting tale.
