ACU WON BOTH TEAM TITLES, WHAT A TREMENDOUS JOB!!!
ACU WON BOTH TEAM TITLES, WHAT A TREMENDOUS JOB!!!
Impressive? Most definitely.
Worth creating an all-caps, multiple exclamation point topic subject? No.
i think if any school bought their whole team they could win too. All they do is get a ton of africans, it's not really that impressive.
Women: 27 out of 76.5 points by Africans - 35%
Men: 19 out of 108.5 points from Africa - 18%
Women also had 10 pts. from Jamaica and 10 from Latvia
Men had 18 pts. from France
(I did not include the relays, which were predominately or exclusively homegrown.)
Overall, 40% of ACU's points were from foreign athletes, and 25% were from Africans.
Assuming my math is right, is this too much? What is acceptable?
Add 2 more pts. to the men's total from Africa. I forgot Kazingo.
jealous! All teams recruit to win- all teams have foreign athletes-get over it.
Impressive indeed ACU - way to go-

Not true, there are teams out there with no foreigners. Also, i think having one or two foreigners is a little different than having 20. Last year when ACU won NCAA's in XC, their top 5 were African.
Lets talk about some of the National Individual Winners from ACU this year: (Again NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, not just listed on the roster.)
Nick Jones from Amarillo Texas - 2008 National Champion in the Discus.
Billy Walker from Lancaster Texas - 2008 National Champion in the 110 hurdles.
Raymond Radway from McKinney Texas - 2008 National
Champion in the 400 meters.
Give credit where credit is due. ACU recruits hard, trains hard and wins hard. They recruit by talent, not just nationality. By the way, this is an extremely close knit team and they worked together AS A TEAM, and it showed.
Class Act guys!
Always love these responses. Don't guess you have to actually COACH African runners, they just come "ready made" (ya, right-----) They are some of the hardest training athletes I have ever been around in my 20 years of the sport. So sad how armchair quarterbacks( Guess in this case runners) seem to have it all figured out! ha

Holy f***ing shit, being african makes you not have to work hard to be a good distance runner? f*** you, you're an idiot.
There is no doubt that ACU's athletes train hard and compete hard, I have seen that with my own eyes, but their budget for track and field/cross country is much greater than most DII programs. You would have to agree that having money makes a difference. The playing field isn't even. They are going to be loaded in cross next year, I don't know if anyone will be able to touch them.
Correct me if I am wrong but can't programs only give out a set number of scholarships for track and cross country?

there is no limit for d2

12.6 for men and 12.6 for women last time I checked.
Most DII track and field/cross programs are lucky to have 6 full scholarships to divide amongst all of their athletes.
NCAA allows 12.6, that doesn't mean every school provides 12.6.

You are wrong about this. There is a limit for d2 and as it has been stated it is 12.6 for men.
I think if you are impressed with ACU you should be impressed with the fact that the foreigners that they get on campus, are actually good. Sometimes when coaches sign foreigners to scholarships they are just taking chances on whether they are legit or not. Its a gamble. And in the midwest, I see my share of kenyans that do not work hard, especially in the off season-especially over the winter!
Amen, it takes quality recruiting!
Not hard to get almost 100% good recruits from Africa when you actually go over there and watch firsthand. That is what they do as it was outlined in a recent alumni newsletter.
ACU is like the Yankee's, just too many resources.
St. Augs is worse though.
