I am curious as to what the average training/mileage of most college female distance runners is? I am assuming it depends on whether or not they are Division I,II,III and how serious the program is. I am a male runner and have a daughter who competes at the college level. She runs about 75-80 mpw during the season and gets to around 85-90 in the summer during high mileage. Does this seem accurate to the training of most females or more than average? Her body seems to handle the mileage without injury but she does not have a lot of energy left to race. I just ran in the Boston Marathon and my training only gets up to 60 miles a week. She trains for the 5k/10k and 5k during cross country. Is there a point where some of her mileage is unecessary and only leads to fatigue? Or is it good to put in this kind of work and reap the benefits later in the long run?? Please give me opinions!
