That's funny since I was predicting that Ryan Hall would be better than Ryan Hall. Which Ryan will Josh be better than?
I predict Josh McDougal will run 2:05 pace on the roads around Liberty for 25 miles, by himself. Then, he'll get into a big-time marathon, will be on 2:05 pace, and will blow up.
the marathon is a tricky event. nothing is guaranteed. not high mileage, not talent. nothing.
good marathoners can handle high mileage, and can do so for long periods of time.
but great marathoners (which Ryan Hall is obviously) develop over time. over time, their mileage increases, and they avoid injury. Hall is an example of a maturely developed marathoner.
Just because you can handle large quantities of mileage, doesn't promise you a great marathoning career. McDougal has a lot to prove before he can come even close to be compared to Hall.
The next Ryan Hall will be Skippy Grabarkowitz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who is currently nine years old. But just wait until 2023!
At what, raising Jesus?
