Does anyone if there will be a live video feed somewhere on the net?
bump...
There will be no live video for the Stanford meet.
We contacted Stanford about doing live video of the races on letsrun.com and the athletic department has to figure out something internally (ie they have a lot of contractual agreements) so I think this year's Stanford meet will represent the last track meet of substance not on live.
Thanks to
and others (mogulus.com) anyone with a video camera and high speed internet connection (which most college tracks have) can broadcast live for FREE. This has come about in the last 6 months or so on a wider scale. Sure in the past there were things like trackmeets.com but streaming was very expensive. Now it is free. So I'm sure by next year they can at least get permission to let it be streamed on their own site for free.
The big meets of the world are already on TV or WCSN or Sportnet etc but Stanford is the biggest meet for distance fans not available. Now, Stanfords of the World can be on live for sure with basically 0 cost. 10 years ago it was hard to find results on the net, now the capability exists to watch everything live. (Ustream.tv even lets you embed the player wherever you want so it can be on ustream.tv and the Stanford website at the same time)
The audience is pretty small for these events but its a track lovers dream now basically being able to see every event of substance live. We've always believed for a sporting event to be taken seriously it needs to be able to be watched live.
So instead flotrack and runnerspace will be being doing taped video.
dude welcome to the REAL world...
i just saw FLotrack live from stanford...
As of today, Flotrack says they will have live video of the big races plus interviews. Hopefully this works out and they are able to deliver.
Great to have volunteers step up and bring their video cameras to meets. Whomever you are, I thank you.
