I just don't get it. A plus-one championship game for D1-A college football seems like the best of both worlds. You keep all the pagentry (and $$$) of the bowl games. And you have 4 teams competing for the title, not just two. It wouldn't extend the season any further than last year when the last BCS bowl game was on Jan 8. What's not to like?
Sounds like the only argument against a plus-one system is the slippery-slope argument that it's one step closer to a playoff. Big deal. Vote for the plus-one on its own merits, not what you think it could possibly lead to.
A 5th-ranked team who got left out of the top 4 would have less of a case to make than a 3rd-ranked team who got left out of the BCS game.
