Dean Karnazes drops out of race and they still put him in 60th place?
this is worst than Boston have Lance break the tape at the finish line.

A runner is only as good as the PR staff surrounding him.
2 questions:
How did he get 60th if he DNF'd?
How did a bunch of geeks from Google win by over an hour?
Maybe he ran the first 147 miles, then handed it off?
Check that, I found this article:
"The Relay is a 199-mile run from Calistoga to Santa Cruz to raise money for organ donation. There were 202 12-member teams and two soloists, Bradley and Karnazes, who completed the run seven times. Bradley made it. Karnazes bowed out at 150 miles."
How would you feel if you were Bradley who finished DFL, but finished, to see that clown in the results ahead of you? In the article he claims not to be a shameless self promoter. Check it out:

11:30 per mile pace for 147.6 miles.
I am Joe average runner and I could go out an run substantially better tomorrow. How does this guy manage to get all the support he gets?

"No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."
-- Henry Mencken
Well, that press democrat article called him an elite runner, so you better get your "facts" straight.
Really. When was the last time you ran over 100 miles in day? How about 146? I am not ashamed to admit that I never have and never will.
What a clown. This guy has changed view of the unsuspecting public on the sport. In an awfull way. I am unable to read about him because it frusterates me too much. He reminds me of "that guy" on every track team that loves to train but is afraid to race and makes excuses for a half ass effort in a race. An Nancy Kerrigan like incident for this guy is hopefully in the works.
I looks like they recorded his drop out time and placed that in time order. So if I start at 3 PM and dropped out at 3:01 they would place me first on their lists it seems.
That article seriously made me want to vomit. There are so many things wrong with it, I dont even know where to start. Whoever wrote that should be friggin' ashamed.
For the heck of it I sent an e-mail to the race asking for clarification, and expressing a hope that they'll correct the results if he really was a DNF.
What would Brian Boitano do?
What is even more amazing is that Bill Bradley, a 64 year old, Professional Basketball Hall of Famer and former US Senator was able to complete the run!!
Way to go Bill!!
p.s. I think the Knicks could use this guy as their next head coach!!

I'm guessing they're not a bunch of geeks. They might even have a few ex-DI runners on the team.

Evidence collected from this web site indicates that the population of "post-collegiate," "sub-elite," and "competitive (for a middle-ager)" is very geeky.
You can continue to defend a dishonest con artist who fleeces the public opinion, but some of us like to hold people accoutable for their bullshit. Sorry if this offends you so much.

Perhaps the results went in order of how much courage it took them to start rather than finishing order?
Excuse me, when you have reached the status of running God as Dean has, you are listed in the results regardless of whether you actually completed the race.

Hire a bunch of ringers and it's pretty simple... and a very inexpensive way to generate publicity (not that google really needs any more press).
