Quantcast, alexa, etc are basically useless for sites that aren't really popular. It's not anywhere close to accurate.
Have we elected the commmittee responsible for adding up the numbers yet ??
I have a better idea. Put your Phone number down and at the end of each day someone will call all the numbers and ask what state you are from. This "Designated Caller" can make a list and then in a month can post the results.
Just in case you are not available when the caller calls you, please change your announcement so that your state is in it. Something like, "Hey, This is Jim From New York, please leave a message" This way the Caller wont be wasting all kinds of time if you dont pick up. I am so glad someone brouhgt this up. This sounds like a really cool idea !!!! I am Soooooo waiting to see the final results!!

or just go off of our loggin software:
1) California 10.6%
2) NY 9%
3) Penn 5%
4) Mass 5%
5) Illinois 4%
6) Virginia 4%
7) Texas 4%
8) Oho 3.5%
9) Michigan 3.3%
10) Colorado 3.3%
If these numbers are right, then Texas and Florida (2.6%) need to start running more.
It's off of visits not visitors but should be pretty accurate.
I doubt these numbers are correct. They only show the registration location of the owners of servers last used to get to Letsrun. AOL users would have a disproportionate number of "Virginia" and "NJ" counts from people that don't even live in those states.
Currently in Illinois, moving to Florida or California next month.

Here is the preliminary tally so far. Of course it's somewhat unscientific but interestingly it gives almost exactly what I expected based on what I have noticed about the REGULAR posters on this site.
There's probably been a couple double posts. If we had a large enough sample, that wouldn't matter for a variety of reasons.
The 5 leaders are: CA 12, WA 11, Mass 10, NY 10, VA 8.
It may seem odd to some of you to see so "many" from WA and Massachussets given their relatively smaller population sizes but I've been reading this board for years and I already had noticed an over representation from those states among the regular posters. So, this sample may not be biased in that respect.
Anyway, here is the full table:
