I'm a freshman in college and i've been running since my freshman year of high school. I run about 50mpw and rarely get injured but I've been stuck in a rut the past 3 years. My junior year I ran a 4:56 mile, senior year 4:54 and this indoor season I've run 4:53. Yes I know thats horrible for a guy who runs in college but its a small d3 school in the south in a not so competitive conference. Over these past few years my times at longer distances have improved but I can't seem to run faster than 4:50 for a mile. My 5k pr is 16:55 and I've run a 3k in 9:50, those pr's are from this past indoor season. I can also run a 400 in 58 seconds. This summer I'm thinking about making a jump in my mileage to try something to break out of running these shitty times. It's really frustrating to only improve 1 or 2 seconds after years of training. I think I have a fast mile race in me but maybe just have a mental block when it comes to racing. What can I do to improve?
