I'm an older dude and I can run ten and twelve mile long runs at a hr of 140bpm to 155 bpm at times and I won't even pant when i breathe, but let me go to the track and do intervals and if my hr gets to 155-160 or above I don't pant, I start wheezing bad and it slows me down and it hurts to.
I thought it might be excersised induced asthma and got some meds for that but I still wheeze.
Well last week I went to see a doc about going to a sleep clinic for i snore so loud that i can wake people up two houses down the street and my wife will no longer sleep with me on account of it. He looked down my throat and said my air passage was too small and i had folds of skin blocking it.
He also said when i fall asleep my tongue relaxes and goes down my throat and blocks my too small airway and this is what causes the snoring sound.
I went to a sleep clinic and they concluded that i was waking up 57 times an hour but i can't remember this. This means i never get into rem sleep so i feel like shit all the time and tired.
They may have to do surgery to remove some tissue to make my air passage bigger. Have any of you known anybody that had this problem.....sleep apnea.. and had this surgery then they could breathe better when running also?
Thanks.....The snoring recluse...
