how many miles can you get out of the zoom milers until they are done for?
probably 100-150. i had a pair of jasaris with the distance plate that got 200+ miles. my milers have 50 and look great still. but there were no xc races either.
Ok so jasaris are meant for 800- upwards of 5k, usually intended for the 3k. So therefore they would be much more of a distant intended spike. and as a result of that they would be able to have more miles on them then milers. second 200+ miles, do you train in your spikes? do you do your long runs in these? that makes no sense that you would be able to log that many miles on one pair of spikes from merely racing on them. I would say that 100-150 miles is way too many miles. How many people can say they have raced 100- 150 one mile races in their life, let alone on a single pair of spikes. this estimation is completely off the wall. i would personally say no more than 50 -60 miles before i would change my spikes. In my opinion its a lot cheaper for a new pair of spikes or shoes than an appointment for a stress fracture.
I agree with that assessment. I had a pair of milers for about a year and a half. I ran probably 30 mile races, plus about 40 800s and a few 400s. I knew i needed a new pair because the side was torn from excessive use. I would have been running barefoot if i had kept them for 100-150 miles. spikes are light-weight performance shoes, they cannot handle the abuse of regular trainers.
My girlfriend always wanted me to wear spikes when doing her doggy style, she worried about me slipping. It worked well, we worked a groove in the wood floor so the spikes stayed in the same hole so I could too. It worked and she likes the Adistars the best.
