KN - having a bad life? or just a bad day?
Anybody who doesn't have total admiration for where Hall is in his running career, and what he accomplished in London, has no clue about distance running and Marathoning in particular. To say that Hall is over-rated on this board is beyond idiocy! He's a bloody kid, in the toughest event on the program, and he just rocked the World big-time, one of the fastest times ever run. Over-rated ? Nonsense...
As for Olympic placings, Jon Brown was a close 4th in each of the last 2 Olympics, has a PB of well over 2:09, and was not exactly heat-adjusted - living and training on the West Coast of Canada. Olympic medals in the Marathon are not decided on the basis of PB's going in, but on a delicate balance of focus and preparation, and a bit of good fortune - both in terms of not crossing over the red-line in training too often, and being "On" on the day.
