hi,
recently i decided to start taking running "seriously" and went from my track season average of 65-75km per week with hard sessions into build up mode where i was running 80-90 and i ran at this for 2 weeks and then last sunday i went for a long run when my left knee felt slightly sore and i was limping a bit for about 30 minutes.. i decided to keep going and try to do my hour forty to fifty that i had planned to do, but i got lost in the forest and ended up running 2 hours and walking 30 minutes to get home... next day i woke up with the sorest hamstring ever and a sore knee. didnt run that day. trained the next day did a 20 minute tempo felt ok a little sore.. next day was sore again didnt run. day after i did a session hard which consisted of 3 sets of, a 2 min rep, 1 an 1/2 minute rep, an 1 minute rep with 1 min recov, friday felt sore didnt run but i played basketball liek an idiot i know.. and then today i woke up feeling all good and i decided to race the 5km funrun.. i taped up around everywhere. ran did 16:59 but now about 5 hours after the race im limping around everywhere and my knee is killing. question is... since its school holidays should i just try forget my sore knee and get back to training hard and not missing runs starting with long run or should i have another easy week next week? has anyone gotten this injury and gotten better by running through it?
