Some of us runners from the frozen tundra are venturing down to PCB also, maybe we will so you guys around? We all plan on running alot of miles everyday and enjoying the warm weather while we can. We'll be stayin at St. Andrews State Park...cheap.
If you guys have a car and want to go for a long run, it's worth the hour drive to come to Tallahassee. Tallahassee has some of the best parks and trails to run in, and we attract some of the best runners around.
Last week after my long run, I met Mark Carroll and Amy Rudolph. Pretty amazing.
If you need more info, let me know.
Watch for projectiles including, but not limited to: tennis balls, beverages (often alcoholic), and eggs.
If anyone wants to meet up for some runs in Panama City Beach we are stayin there from the 15th-20th
Man, I miss spring break in PCB. We used to go every year, usually staying at the Howard Johnson w/ 6+ people crammed into a room. Walking distance from Club La Villa. No idea where to run, honestly I really wasn't that concerned with it while I was there.
Im regusted, missed our last 12 shots and Henderson turnover was key- bring back Hurley, Laetner and Hill.
I was in Panama City last year for spring break... It was horrible when I ran on this strip (what ever you call it). People through stuff at me and said tons of sh-it. I went down with a few of my budies who were not on the team. So I ran by my self. Defiantly run with someone if you can. You don't want to get hurt.
Good luck
we got a group of 7 of us headin down so most likely there will always be atleast 3 or 4 of us running at a time
Pine Log State Forest is 13-14 miles north of Hwy 98 (Back Beach Road) on Hwy 79 out of Panama City Beach area. Parking and beginning of trails is on the East side of the Hwy. Several miles of trails (8-10 at least) in a large loop from the parking area. Some open areas and some shade, all nice soft packed sand. Watch out for spider webs if running in the am.
sounds good thanks for the info, someone said people threw stuff at you? were you running at night when everyones drunk? or was this all the time at any part of the day?
i was in panama city this week actually, i only did my runs on the strip. do them early morning if you can because i did a few around 10:30 - 11 am and about every car yelled something out at me.
there's an alberta clipper developing as we speak. it should reach the rochester airport by the end of this week and all flights to atlanta will be cancelled through easter weekend
You'd have to be an idiot to run down the strip at any time. You make an easy target for the drunks walking and DRIVING down the strip. I'd hit those trails someone mentioned.
10-day forecast right now has rain for sunday monday and tuesday, thats pretty shitty.

People are drunk all day, everyday, in PCB. Do not run on the strip or in town. Ever. I tried twice and had beer cans thrown at me and all kinds of weird shit yelled. Def. hit the trails far away from the strip.
On a side note, I stayed at the Howard Johnson an earlier poster mentioned, with 6 guys to the room. It was a true sh**hole, and wonderful for spring break.
Last year we put 6 guys in a best western and on the first day the cleaning lady asked if we wanted them to even attempt it and we just said keep the tp and towels stocked..
Was in PBC for spring break a few years back and had to get a track workout in. We headed to the local highschool and ran on their track... it was kind of a dump, but that's pretty much how i felt anyway... doing 16 x 400 on a hangover was a bit rough...
Last year we tried to get on a high school track but apparently you have to jump through alot of hoops because of some laws that Florida has so we just changed our workouts to stuff we could do on the roads.
I think we lucked out because the highschool was on spring break the same week as us, so no one complained or said anything. We actually showed up as another college team was finishing up.
There was also this random old guy there who started to try and coach us durring our workout and was talking about how he knew Maria Mutoloa... it was really strange.
