87% mortality over 5 years for all comers. Not good. Most common risk factor is smoking.
did he smoke?

Yes. Pole.
and...
so?
Have respect for the sick, please no gay Texan jokes about dear Patrick.
"Pain don't hurt," but I sure bet pancreatic cancer does.
Yeah, kinda mean. I truly hope he beats it, though.
Weird how this news breaks just after Jeff Healey died (common link is the movie Roadhouse of course). I have never seen Roadhouse, but last night it was on Versus, so I DVR'd it. I wanted to see Jeff Healey and his band play. I'll watch it this weekend.
Can't think of Patrick Swayze without thinking of that great SNL skit he did with Chris Farley as a Chippendale dancer. Classic. Hopefully he wins this battle.
I heard he was actually responding pretty well to treatment and it was a relatively small area. Hope Dalton comes through...Roadhouse is one of the all-time greats. Still can't believe it didn't win an Oscar.
too early for Ghost jokes?

Any movie that Sam Elliot is in is good, because he's a cool guy.
This disease killed Texas miling great Len Hilton.
My dad got his pancreatic cancer diagnosis in early December 1996 and was dead by early May 1997. It's a b---h of a diagnosis; a very quick and deadly form of cancer. Fighting it is mostly about pain management as you go down, frankly.

I watched for the first time last night on Versus! It was awesome. Just alot of ass kickin' to the tune of Jeff Healey. That's good stuff.
If it is truly localized (only a small % are caught this early) and they do major surgery, he stands a chance. unfortunately this is about the worst diagnosis you can get. Best of luck to him.

Versus is an interesting channel -- movies, fishing shows (usually fishing for MONSTER fish), WEC. Definitely a guy channel.
My brother is an oncologist. He says that pancreatic is one of the worst. I guess by the time you catch it, it's too late to do anything but manage the pain. Hopefully Swayze's was caught early enough, but he'll need a lot of luck with this one.
