I was curious what everyone thought about training sessions during the competion phase of my training. I'm talking about the period where mileage is still relatively high and the intensity is at it\'s highest. Just before tapering to peak. I\'m a non competative runner who enjoys to push himself. Mileage max at about 30-45 mpw. I feel if I do more than that I'm going to have injury and fatigue problems that I've had in the past. I'm training for mile/5k.
Long Run? I typically keep my long run on sundays at 20% of my weekly mileage.
The real question I have is the amount of "hard" workouts a week.
Should I have 2 "hard" workouts? 1 hard tempo and 1 hard interval? or 1 hard fartlek and 1 hard interval? 2 intervals?
Should I have 3 "hard" workouts? tempo, interval, fartlek?
For my intervals, what perecentage should I do them at? How many weeks (I usually do 4-6 weeks, is this too much, too little, or just right). How do I calculate my times for intervals including rest?
