Men's 3000m at PAC-10's

There's no such thing as Pac 10 indoors. That race is from the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) Championships

It might as well be PAC 10... it is only pac 10 schools

it is only pac-10 schools, but it is not all of the pac-10 schools.

It doesn't matter, it's all of the PAC 10 schools that want to be there!!!!!!!!!

interesting to see cal not blow. I am excited for the Cal athletes, good to see Coe on top and yoyo as well.

The MPSF also includes schools frfom the WAC and Mountain West. In the case of track only two other schools participate....Long Beach and Cal State Northridge (they beat the UCLA women).

As far as the 3000m goes, it wasn't a particularly fast race and no one made the automatic qualifyer, especialy when you consider that the track is oversized (306m) and flat. Coaches around the country are up in arms about the advantage it gives for distance q-times over a short, banked track.

Actually... it is 307 meters long... duh!

Facility Details: 307 meter Mondo track. Six lane straightaway, five lanes on the curve. 160 ft. elevated wooden long jump runway (132 ft. TJ) with rubber overlay; 150 ft. elevated wooden pole vault runway with rubber overlay; 80 ft. right/left wooden high jump approach area with Mondo overlay; reinforced wooden throwing ring.

Too bad 10.3 sprinter Jahvid Best is sidelined with a season-ending hip injury from Football. He would have easily scored points for the Golden Bears.

Add that to the fact that Cal hurdler Thomas Mack was hit in the chest by the lead arm of Stanford's Myles Bradley ( who was later DQ'd in the finals due to the infraction ), and Mack would have easily gone under 8.00 and won the 60m hurdles. As it was, he came in 3rd at 8.08 vs the winner from Northridge in 8.04

Mack "winning" would have pulled the Bears within 1.5 points of Oregon. Add Jahvid Best, and the Bears win the MPSF Championship!

Meanwhile, cocky-arse Greg Kraft at ASU and his $165,000 a year salary get beat by CAL.

That's priceless.
