Anyone have experience with this injury. I have been injured since August and after nearly 5 months of rehab and rest I am still at square one. Any suggestions?
Cheers

heel drops are good
night splint is key
I think the most important part is to keep working it, at least a little. Putting strain on it breaks up scar tissue. I found that using the arc trainer worked pretty well. After a few weeks, complete rest is almost never the answer, in my mind.
Do a search for "eccentric Achilles" or something along those lines. I have posted quite a few times on the topic and have gotten some feedback that it has been helpful in helping many recover. The name of the game is often eccentric calf raises. Good luck and e-mail me if you have any questions.
eccentric calf exercises
night splint
lifts in daily wear shoes
rest/ice
careful calf stretching once the pain is gone
slow return to running (run a little every day)
if you search you'll find some useful info in older threads.
took me 2 months of zero running. 1 month of 3 miles/day run/walk, 1 month building slow mileage. 1 month adding back some speed i finally got somewhere back to normal after 5 months.
you cannot rush AT problems - common problem is going for a steady 5/6 miler to see if it's better.... it just rips it all up again and you back at square one. (as my grandad used to say "don't keep picking the carrots to see if they're grown".)
I have had achilles tendonosis in both feet at the point of insertion (right by the heel). I tried many things and it took a few months before I found out what worked. For one leg, ultra sound really helped break up the scar tissue and let me stretch it out. Then deep tissue massage on my calf finally got things going. For my other foot, the ultra sound did nothing (actually it just hurt), and I really benefitted from massage on the tendon. Be patient, and good luck!
forgot about insertional, the advice i gave was for midpoint AT
Thank you. I have applied the above mentioned exercises to no avail. I am hoping that with more time I will see the benefits. Thank you again.

probably time to go see a good sports doctor. find one that is a distance runner who understands that "quitting running" is not an option.

I actually have this thread bookmarked, as I'm in the same boat.
