Do they still have that big one in NYC, Central Park where Craig Virgin and many world class runners ran blistering times?
Of those of you running one; will you run it seriously or as a lark?

I ran one, seriously, back in the 80's, when I was in my 20s; and will jog one this year, for fun, as a middle aged guy. It can be around 20 degrees here in the midwest for this race, typically.
I would if the nearest one wasn't 200 miles away.
We got this crowd of crazy runners from our Syracuse club who take a bus to NYC, run the New Years Eve midnight run, take a bus back to Syracuse (about 5 hours) and then run the club New Years Day Run (starts at about 9:30).
Syracuse has a bunch of tough crazy-ass@d runners!
5k at 11:59pm on NYE, 5k at 10am on NYD.
"Special awards" for best combined time, they say...anyone have advice for me? Things to eat/drink/do in the 10 hours in between? I was just planning on sleeping a little, and maybe having some Gatorade.
you got the right idea...take some caffeine drink too, when you wake up new years day.
There's a 5k at 11:59:59 on Dec 31st at Portage High School in Portage, IN.
