Oliver Jackson, 87, a former coach of Abilene Christian passed away on Wednesday. His star sprinter, Bobby Joe Morrow, won gold medals at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne in the 100, 200 and 400-meter relay. Another of his athletes won a gold medal in the 1600-meter relay in the 1960 Olympics in Rome. A Jackson coached athlete, Billy Pemelton, was 8th in the 1964 Olympic pole vault in Tokyo. In 1959, Sports Illustrated said that Jackson was "probably the best relay coach in the United States".
In 1964 Jackson coached the US National team during its pre-Olympic tour.
