Troy, is that you?

No they couldn't.
Yeah, excuse us. Vanderbilt could only beat half the teams in the Big 10.
slow?
please stop watching so much sportscenter. the sec could lose all their bowl games and i'd still hear how fast and how good they are. fact is, the sec was 1-2 against big ten teams in bowl games last year. please keep that in mind as it could happen again this year despite the fact that 5 big ten teams are playing in the opposing team's home state.
if ohio state beats lsu, it won't prove the big ten's any better than the sec, but it'll shut a lot of people up and maybe help them realize the big ten isn't as feeble as espn would make you believe.

2 or 3 maybe. No way half.

Compared to the SEC, Big-12, and Pac-10, the Big 10 is simply slow, period.
I remember a no-name Badger cornerbank running down Darren McFadden from behind and preventing a touchdown last year when Wisco played Arkansas. Wisconsin won that game. Of course, there is no speed in the Big Ten..

If you believe that an LSU wn proves the SEC is better, then why doesn't an OSU win prove the Big Ten is better? Reality is that you don't need LSU to win to prove to you that the SEC is better.
No matter what though, shouldn't an LSU win just mean that LSU is better than OSU? Why does a win for a team mean it's conference is better? If LSU beats Ohio State does that mean that the third best team in the SEC is better than the third best team in the Big Ten? I say no. Team vs. team only is the way to look at it.
I said it would confirm it, not prove it. I wouldn't use an LSU win as the main argument that the SEC is better this year, but it would make a good secondary one.
BCS=Big Crock of Sh*t. But besides that I would generally agree
LSU is a joke, they lost to a nothing Arkansas team.
Flaggy, let's see how the Michigan/UF and LSU/OS games come out and then it will be time to discuss which is the stronger league.
Happy New Year and keep posting.

Of course if LSU wins, SEC fans will say that proves the SEC is better, but if Ohio State wins, those same SEC fans would NEVER say that proves the Big Ten is better.
I'll say that the SEC is better top to bottom than the Big Ten this year. But, in the championship game, it only matters who wins with regard to the teams playing. An LSU win doesn't make Florida any better. An OSU win doesn't make Wisconsin any better.
So, just to be on the record, anyone want to claim that whoever wins this game proves to be in the better conference?
As to the original question, one BCS win certainly does not mean that one conference trumps another, though a BCS victory should be given more weight than other bowl victories. And with that, a couple of losses to more than one conference IN BCS BOWLS should be considered when assessing a conference's strength. The SEC, Big 12, and Big Ten all have two teams playing in BCS bowls this year, so the results should be interesting.
As to the first comment about the winner being the better team, well, that's just simply not true. If it were, then Illinois is a better team than OSU and should be playing in the championship game IF WE ARE TRYING TO FIND OUT WHO IS THE VERY BEST TEAM IN ALL THE LAND, not just the BCS chump.
