Is it a multi loop course, point to point, or one big loop? My wife wants to do it next year. i could not find a course map on the race website. Thanks.

Point to point. Trails with lots of rocks and roots and lots of downhill at the start. Then a long, long stretch on the C&O Canal towpath - soft surface and flat. Last stretches on roads with uphills.
I should think you could find course info pretty easily with some searching, it's one of the classic American ultras.
Pt-to-pt.
I did the race in '05 and ran for a while with this guy who posted a pretty detailed report of the event -

You'll be disppointed if you look for a lot of downhill at the start. The first two (approximately) road miles are almost strictly uphill, then some rolling path, then a couple mother loving climbs on road again. Once you hit the trail, though, it is rolling and rooty and rocky as advertised .

Hope that works
