What did the tick look like? Did you keep it after hopefully removing the entire head and mouthparts? If you're worried about Lyme disease, check if the tick is the Black Legged Tick...
And I'd get worried as soon as you spot a bull's eye shaped rash.
24-36 hours before the bacteria are transported to the mouthparts and into your blood.
I had Lyme about 5 years ago. It sucked. I was laid up for about 4 weeks. If I'm remembering this right it takes about 2- 3 weeks to show symptoms which include joint pain, headache, exhaustion, and general flu like symptoms. There is usually a rash near the spot of the bite that again takes about 2-3 weeks to show and often takes the form of a bulls eye. Then again, there are many cases where people have zero symptoms. My buddy got Lyme around the same time I did and he seemed perfectly normal. They only caught it cause he was having other blood work done and it came up in the tests. The New England Journal of medicine is a good resource (http://content.nejm.org/). If you really start to feel bad I'd call a doctor and get the blood test. If they catch it early antibiotics take are of it in 4-6 weeks. Good luck.
I believe it depends. A friend of mine got lyme disease and he had not been in the woods for a week beforehand. But in general you'll get it within a couple of days. Once you have the symptoms just make sure the doctor is considering lyme disease, because it can be easily misdiagnosed as flue or menangitis. If they catch it early enough, you'll usually br ok.
Be informed, and stay away from drugs.
