I think that you're right, and that all three have their US headquarters there for some reason. A so-so place, at best, to live though.
Correction - all three have their WORLD headquarters there. The reason is because Warsaw, IN is where orthopaedic implants were invented. Sofamor Danek (Medtronic) also has a facility there - though I think it is only manufacturing. There are also many start-up companies and R&D facilities that may have use for a technical writer, though I am not all that sure what a technical writer does.
And Warsaw is a wonderful place to live. It is surrounded by many beautiful natual lakes and is just 45 minutes from Fort Wayne (good restaurants, fair shopping, okay sports, mediocre nightlife) and 2.5 hours to Chicago. Warsaw also has a decent trail system for a town its size... well, at least it will when it is done.
http://www.warsawcity.net/lake-city-greenway/index.cfmvery low cost of living, "small-town" feel, but very exciting work if you work in the orthopaedics field.
I was transplanted to Warsaw from the East Coast, and you couldn't pay me enough to go back. It really is a great place to live - especially if you have plans to raise a family.
