So I am self trained and trying to figure out if the workouts I am doing are helping me, obviously the only way to know this is race, but my next race isn't until february due to travel and work.
I have been running 55-65 mpw with 1-2 days off. I have a 14 mile long run a week, and I try to run 11 miles on most days then I take a day or two off.
My workouts have been strength based, I've run 5X1 mile in 5:00 with 2:30 rest (rest is jogging at 6:30-40 pace) so it turns out to be a pretty long workout at a solid pace.
I do 5 mi tempo runs at 5:05-15 pace depending on how I feel.
And most recently I did a 16X400 in 70 seconds with a 100 meter in 30 seconds as rest, so again comes out to like 5:17 miles.
I am trying to run 14:35 any idea if I am getting close to that goal?
(I know I know GO RUN A RACE...I'll keep that in mind)
